Riley Moore Falls

More Photos

Riley Moore Falls used to be the site of yet another grist mill. The only obvious remnants left from the mill are the anchor bolts near the top of the falls. It is difficult to navigate the rocks to reach the top though, it is much safer to enjoy the falls from the sandy beach and pool below the falls.

Riley Moore Falls is classified as a Class VI Rapid. During higher periods of water, some kayakers will actually run the fall.

Directions to the falls:
  1. From the Junction of U.S. 76 and HWY 183 in Westminster, drive west for 7.4 miles on US 76 and turn right onto Cobb Bridge Road (Oconee County S-37)
  2. Drive 1.4 miles and turn left onto Spy Rock Road (FS 748), this is a gravel road.
  3. Drive 1.4 miles to FS 748C on the right.
  4. Park on the side of 748C and hike east on FS 748C for approximately 0.5 mile.
  5. Bear right at the fork in the road.
  6. You will come to a small parking area, immediately after the forest service road gate, turn sharply left onto the trail.
  7. Hike 0.7 mile to the falls.
